BIOGRAPHY
Richard Christian was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, where he earned his BFA in Painting from Buffalo State College in 1991, prior to moving to Long Island where he received his MFA in Painting and Drawing from the C. W. Post College of Long Island University in 1996. While residing on Long Island, Richard exhibited his artwork throughout the Hamptons, where he also worked in art sales and as a Gallery Manager.
Since moving back to Buffalo in 1999, he has worked for museums and Art Conservators in private practice, as an Art Conservation Technician, Museum Restoration Artist and Archival Exhibits Designer in and around the Rochester area as well as working as an Adjunct Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, Medaille College, Daemen College and Villa Maria College in Rochester and Buffalo. Mr. Christian has taught and designed courses for studio art, fashion design, art history and museum management, and is a full time art teacher at Saint Mary's High School in Lancaster, NY. He has exhibited in galleries and juried exhibitions throughout the United States, and was the 2013 and 2014 President of the Buffalo Society of Artists after serving for three years on their board of directors. Richard has juried and curated several shows in Buffalo and Rochester, and has also judged several fashion shows in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York. His work can be found in private national and international collections.
Mr. Christian has just recently co-authored a book with Steve H. Siegel, Creative Spaces, The Western New York Artist Studio Project, RPSS- Rock Paper (Safety) Scissors Publishing.
